Recognition of a document on foreign education (nostrification)

In some cases, your educational document may require a recognition procedure. You can find out whether your document requires the recognition procedure on the website of the National Information Center “Main State Center for Education Evaluation”, which deals with the recognition procedure.

Legalization of a document on foreign education

In some cases, your educational document may require legalization in the country of origin of the document. Legalization can be simple (by affixing an apostille stamp) or complex (consular legalization). Step 2. Choose a training basis:

I am a citizen of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan or Tajikistan, applying on the same basis as citizens of Russia.

I am a citizen of Georgia living in the territory of the Russian Federation, on the basis of Art. 17 “Agreements between the Government of the Russian Federation and Government of Georgia on cooperation in the field of culture, science and education" (Tbilisi, February 3, 1994) (upon confirmation of the fact residence on the territory of the Russian Federation)

I am an Estonian citizen living in the Russian Federation, on the basis of Art. 4 “Agreements between the Government of the Russian Federation and Government of the Republic of Estonia on cooperation in the field education" dated October 21, 1994 (upon confirmation of residence in territory of the Russian Federation)

I am a citizen of Azerbaijan living in the territory of the Russian Federation, on the basis of Art. 16 “Agreements between the Government of the Russian Federation and The Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan on cultural and scientific cooperation" dated June 6, 1995 (with confirmation of residence in territory of the Russian Federation)

Step 5. Submission of documents

In 2024, documents are submitted to the university admissions committee exclusively in electronic form in the applicant’s personal account: https://priem.gstou.ru/ Acceptance of documents for the budget form of education: from June 20 to August 20.

Required documents:

  • Personal questionnaire and application
    (printed, signed by hand with a blue pen, uploaded as scanned copies in *.pdf format)
  • Scanning an identity and citizenship document
    (the document on the basis of which you plan to enter the territory of the Russian Federation if admitted)
  • Scanning a notarized translation of an identity document
    (pages with photo, last name and first name), if it is not entirely in Russian
  • Scanning of an education document with an attachment indicating the subjects studied and grades (scores),
    as well as a notarized translation of these documents into Russian
  • Personal photograph “for documents” according to the following parameters: no less than 250x300px, 300dpi, .jpg, .jpeg or .png format
  • Medical documents

Medical Before entering Russia, you must prepare the following medical documents:

  • A medical certificate confirming the absence of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and AIDS disease, issued by the official body of the country of residence, with the examination period no more than 6 (six) months before the first day of classes. A medical certificate confirming the absence of contraindications for studying in the Russian Federation, issued by an official body of the country of residence (analogous to certificate 086/u).
  • Vaccination certificate.
    The documents must be: in Russian or have an officially certified translation into Russian certified by seals and signatures of authorized persons on paper.

Step 6. Pass the entrance exams

Foreign citizens can enter SSTU on a contractual and budgetary basis of study, both based on the results of the Unified State Exam and the results of internal entrance tests.

In 2024, the SSTU entrance examinations can only be taken remotely by selecting the corresponding dates in the application. An applicant is admitted to remote admissions tests after submitting documents to the Admissions Committee and completing a personal file.

Step 7. Applying for a study visa

To enter the territory of the Russian Federation, most foreign students need a study visa, which is issued at the Russian embassy (consulate) in the territory of your country of residence and is valid for 90 days. After this period, it will be possible to extend the student visa through the migration registration department of GSTOU

GSTOU issues an invitation to study, which is necessary to obtain a study visa, upon successful enrollment. It takes at least one month to issue an invitation. The invitation will be sent to you at the email address specified in the application. Print and submit the invitation to the Russian embassy (consulate) in your country of residence to obtain a study visa.

An invitation and a study visa are not required for citizens of the following countries:

Azerbaijan;
Armenia;
Belarus;
Moldova;
Kazakhstan;
Kyrgyzstan;
Tajikistan;
Uzbekistan;
Ukraine.

Step 8. Registration of stay on the territory of the Russian Federation

Upon arrival in Russia, all foreign students must obtain a migration card and register with the migration authorities.

A migration card is a mandatory document for a foreign citizen to stay in Russia. A migration card form can be obtained on the plane or taken at a special counter near passport control.

On the day of arrival or the next working day, before 12:00, all foreign students should come to the international department of SSTU to register for migration. You must have with you:
Passport
(or other identification document used to enter);
Visa
Migration card with a mark on crossing the border of the Russian Federation.

All international applicants are also required to have valid health insurance! You can take out a medical insurance policy from any insurance company in the Russian Federation. When applying, pay attention to the type of insurance policy (for foreign students) and the insurance territory (Chechen Republic)
